Pull the small primer hose off the hose barb on the top of the top carb. Turn the key to on, and push in on the key. If fuel pulses out of the end of the hose, the solenoid is working. Can someone please tell me the proper prop nut torque for a 1995 Evinrude 88 SPL. With the engine not running and in forward gear I can turn the prop (although with considerable resistance) by hand. I hear what sounds like the rubber bushing rubbing on the thrust washer. Is this normal even if the prop nut is torqued correctly? Thanks

The only optional pistons are the .030 oversize, which don't add many cubic inches. Even with doing these, you may not be happy with the outcome.

Seems that the fuel primer/enrichment solenoid was shot and was pumping gas into the carb all the time. The idle screw had been turned way up to get the carb to process the extra fuel without choking out. $160 plus labor.
